Thinking of Buying Disney Plus? Here's What You Need to Know

To compete with Netflix, this is what you need to know about Disney+

The connoisseurs of on-demand video services like Netflix were finally presented with  alternative options with the presence of Disney+. The on-demand video service owned by the entertainment giant Disney was finally officially launched on November 12, 2019.

The presence of Disney+ will add to the fierce competition for on-demand video services, which have also been filled by other players, such as Netflix, HOOQ, and Apple TV+, which were just released on November 1, 2019..
So, what are the advantages of this Disney+ service compared to its competitors? Here are things you need to know about Disney+.

1. What is Disney+?

Disney+ is an on-demand video service owned and managed by the Walt Disney Company. Disney+ services are the same as those of Netflix, HOOQ, Apple TV+, and others. Disney+ offers a number of diverse watching experiences, with films, documentaries, and TV series.
Disney Plus users will be charged a subscription fee to enjoy all the content in it, without any ads. Users can directly enjoy Disney Plus services on Android and iOS devices, and can access it via smart TVs, web browsers, tablets and game consoles.

2. When will Disney Plus be released?

The Disney Plus service was launched on November 12, 2019 in the United States, Canada and the Netherlands. Furthermore, Disney Plus services will arrive a week later, precisely on November 19, in Australia and New Zealand.
On March 31, 2020, the launch will be extended throughout Western Europe, including Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and several other countries in the region. Globally, Disney plans for a progressive launch around the world over the next two years.

Other countries have to wait until 2020 or even after, because Disney Plus is expected to reach Western Europe in the first half of 2020 and Eastern Europe in the second half. It seems that Disney+ will only reach various parts of Asia by 2020 and the remaining countries in Asia by 2021.
With the release schedule provided by Disney, Indonesian people must be more patient to enjoy Disney+ services officially.

3. What is the subscription price?

In the United States, a Disney+ subscription is $7/month. The subscription fee for one year is $70/year.
The Disney+ price turns out to be cheaper than the popular package for Netflix in the US, which is $13. With this package, users can only stream on two different devices simultaneously with HD quality.
Disney+ allows all customers to stream on four devices and access 4K content at no additional cost.
Disney’s chief financial officer, Christine M. McCarthy, hinted that the price of Disney+ might rise as service progresses, calling $7 a month the starting price.

4. What are the contents of Disney+?

Disney+ offers a variety of interesting content. Walt Disney, as the biggest entertainment company in the world, is the strength of Disney+ compared to its competitors.
Disney+ services will include all content from Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, and National Geographic. Outside the traditional category, it will also offer all thirty seasons of The Simpsons, and contents produced by Fox.
Disney+ will be the only place to stream all films released by Disney, both the latest and the oldest. Later, there will be lots of Disney films and serials on this platform, including Marvel and Star Wars.

5. Tight competition with Netflix

Since the announcement of the Disney+ service, Netflix has had an argument with Walt Disney. There is a lot of Disney content on Netflix being pulled; even the joint project has to be canceled.
Since 2016, Netflix has become the first choice for watching Disney films. The existence of the agreement makes Netflix a destination for the biggest US blockbuster films in the last three years. The top two films in 2017 and the top three films in 2016 and 2018 are all from Disney, and Netflix has become the place to watch them.
However, Disney decided not to renew the agreement with Netflix, because it planned its own service, starting with Disney films in 2019 aimed at Disney Plus.
Disney Plus will not remove its content until six years after the service is launched. During that time, Disney Plus will build a large permanent library of original content.
